"Based on the CT scan, Dr. Roberson gave Louison's right ear a score of 7, which makes her a good potential candidate for atresia repair canalplasty. Congratulations! The three points taken off were as follows: 1 point off for a smaller than usual middle ear space, 1 point off for slightly abnormal middle ear bones, and 1 point off for the outer ear appearance, which is always the case in patients with atresia and microtia."

"However, because of the good score, we highly recommend canalplasty either as part of the combined procedure or a separate procedure prior to Medpor reconstruction, as the sound quality is far superior to the other options."

"When the canal is created simultaneously with the Medpor outer ear surgery (CAM), this surgery typically lasts 7-8 hours. Patients are seen for post-operative visits over 4 weeks after the date of surgery before returning home, with appointments split between Portola Valley and Los Angeles."

Le coût de l'opération est de 99000$ soit 85000€.

"The cost of the operations is $48,100 for the canal surgery only, or $99,000 for the CAM surgery."

Dr. Roberson has also created a series of online video lectures in order to give families an overview of atresia, and a better understanding of the CT score and treatment options available. The lectures can be accessed in French at the following link: https://www.atresiarepair.com/live/index-fr.html.
